Biography
Robin Dingemans is a choreographer, performer and teacher. Originally from New Zealand he has been based in the U.K. and Europe since 1998.
As a choreographer he creates experimental works for professionals and non-professionals. His creations often fuse dance, theatre, live art, low-fi video and humour. Usually presented in black box stage settings, but on occasion in live art, gallery and installation. His work often deals with the politics of the interpersonal and the making of dance and art itself. Experimental processes are often used in the research of his work, such as working with children to make a show for adults and his current project Not What I Had In Mind, that involved inviting 28 people, mostly from outside of dance, to work one on one with him for a day each.
As a performer he continues to collaborate with and interpret the works of other makers of performance. Since graduating from the New Zealand School of Dance in 1996 he has worked with approximately 50 different choreographers in the UK, Europe and New Zealand. He has worked across a very broad spectrum of styles and genres mostly within experimental dance and physical theatre.
